Richard Ross has been taking photographs for as long as he can remember, and seriously for the last twelve years or so. In 2002 he moved to the Yorkshire Dales to indulge his love of the landscape and the selection of images on this site includes new work from the Dales as well as from other parts of Britain as far apart as the Isle of Skye and Devon.
Richard is attracted to formal designs in the landscape as well as more traditional scenic views and many of these images show strong and sometimes unexpected patterns, often exploring the interface between the elements of water, stone and wood.
Recently he has been experimenting with a pinhole camera and exploring its specific characteristics - a very wide angle of view and a softness of image which together with a special printing process yields some very individual results.
Richard established the darkroom equipment company RH Designs in 1994. Photographers all over the world use his sophisticated and high quality enlarger timers, exposure meters and other darkroom equipment. More recently the business has expanded to cater for those who prefer to make their prints using digital techniques.
